The Citroën C5 was introduced into the UK in April 2001 as a replacement for the popular Xantia model. In
September 2004 the range underwent a facelift, offering a range of high-output, low-emission engines. The
engines fitted are well-proven and have appeared in many Citroën/Peugeot vehicles over the years, with the
exception of the 1.6 litre diesel engine, newly developed in a joint-venture with the Ford Motor Co.
With over 57,000 UK sales, the C5 is a good-looking, well-equipped vehicle offering a wide range of
standard and optional equipment to suit most tastes and budgets. Provided that regular servicing is carried
out in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, the C5 should prove reliable and economical.
The engine compartment is well-designed, and most of the items requiring frequent attention are easily
accessible.
